Hello, The Gentoo Team would like to firstly thank you for your ebuild
submission. We also apologize for not being able to accommodate you in a timely
manner. There are simply too many new packages.

Allow me to use this opportunity to introduce you to Gentoo Sunrise. The
sunrise overlay[1] is a overlay for Gentoo which we allow trusted users to
commit to and all users can have ebuilds reviewed by Gentoo devs for entry
into the overlay. So, the sunrise team is suggesting that you look into this
and submit your ebuild to the overlay where even *you* can commit to. =)

Thanks,
On behalf of the Gentoo Sunrise Team,

Adding myself to CC, not sure how much it is needed for spice.
Comment 4 Benda Xu gentoo-dev 2011-02-15 05:47:28 UTC
It seems that this package is removed for QA notice by mrness. [1,2]

However, this package is of great use in some modern restricted network environments. [3] Especially when you have a normal shell account with Gentoo Prefix.[4]

Further more slirp is still actively maintained and patched by Debian.[5]

Therefore, I'd like to vote for including slirp again and make patches (and introducing Debian patches) against it if mrness is intolarable to the QA things.

Oh sorry. I didn't notice that this is merely slirp library. Not the standalone dev-dailup/slirp. Should I open another bug for dev-dailup/slirp?
Comment 7 Tiziano Müller (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-02-15 07:37:41 UTC
@XU: yes, please. And you can add me to CC if you want since I have a working ebuild (but still without the Debian patchset) for dev-dialup/slirp ready in my overlay: http://git.overlays.gentoo.org/gitweb/?p=dev/dev-zero.git;a=tree;f=net-dialup/slirp;hb=HEAD

@Andreis: do you have any idea whether net-libs/slirp is still needed for spice in any way? As far as I understand it, this is a fork of what's included in qemu/qemu-kvm, is that correct?

my ebuild (qemu/kvm) and @XU request imho use identical bsd source from[1]
and ,of course, would be a conflict between them
