Description C W Rose 2010-08-09 09:14:41 UTC
The exim documentation, both HTML and PDF, isn't supplied
by upstream in the main exim package. It might be worth
adding a separate ebuild for the documentation.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Try installing exim
2. Look for the docs
3. Fail to find them

So, this is a feature request for a USE=doc to exim? Is the documentation available as tar-ball somewhere that you know of?
Comment 2 C W Rose 2010-08-11 22:05:06 UTC
There are PDF files for the current 4.72 on the exim.org site; the most
recent tarball I can find on the exim mirrors is for 4.50. It provides
HTML and texinfo format. (Actually it's a tarball and a patch file.)
Since exim is no longer under active development, I'd have thought
the best approach would be to stick the two PDF files into a separate
exim-doc package on the Gentoo mirrors, pulled in by the 'doc' flag.

exim is quite a lot under development, not sure what you referred to here.

I suggest to install the html documentation with USE=doc. Would that be enough for you?

implemented the last suggestion in exim-4.77
