When trying to emerge rivatv on 2.6 linux kernel the configure script fails with warnings. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Emerge rivatv with 2.6 kernel 2. 3.
I've managed to work out a patch around the configure script problem but I then hit other problems. The build process basically 'virtually' adds itself to the kernel and tells the kernel to build its modules...I think, I'm not exactly clued up on how its working. This presents two problems, the ARCH variable is set in all ebuild processes so kernel make's start looking in arch/x86/ instead of arch/i386. I got rid of this by unsetting the ARCH variable but then hit the problem that, since the process builds all the kernel modules as well as the rivatv modules it produces a bunch of access violations. I'm stumped...is this unworkable with portage????
there is a metabug tracking the issues with 2.6 modules and portage, I'm marking this as depending on that bug
Support for 2.6.x kernels was added about two weeks ago in cvs. Someone may want to do a snapshot.
Added version 0.8.4 which should support a 2.6 kernel. Please report any problems with it, so far the ebuild is untested I don't have any hardware to do so.
emerge fails with 0.8.4 because patch file is not found: * Cannot find $EPATCH_SOURCE! Value for $EPATCH_SOURCE is: * * /usr/portage/media-tv/rivatv/files/rivatv-0.8.4-configure.patch I cannot see it in gentoo's viewcvs, forget to add it?
