Description DEMAINE Benoît-Pierre, aka DoubleHP 2010-08-04 11:30:22 UTC
!!! The following installed packages are masked:
- app-office/mozilla-sunbird-0.9 (masked by: package.mask)
/usr/portage/profiles/package.mask:
# Lars Wendler <polynomial-c@gentoo.org> (26 Jul 2010)
# Masked for removal in 30 days.
# Discontinued by upstream and superseded by Thunderbird with Lightning

Ok, I can read (and write) english, but we can not remove sunbird now.

We have two bugs to fix before this:

- "Lightning" could not be installed because it is not compatible with your Thunderbird build type (Linux_x86_64-gcc3).
Clear, simple: i can not use Lightning. This is a very old bug (at least 3 years), and many people confirmed it recently (march 2010).

- I have 2 Google calendar accounts (and need both); there is a bug in the cord engine of the password manager such that, only one password per server can be specified (even if logins are different); I used to use lightning for one, and Sunbird for the other; as lightnin is broken, i have only one left; when Sunbird will be removed, I won't have any more calendar. Furthermore, this bug is such that the password manager is stuck on the first login entered (need profile removal to clean up). Since all Google apps and default Google share the same server name, we are stuck.

Gentoo can not remove Sunbird before both bugs are fixed.

Please remove the "pending removal".

This will not let me use my 3 accounts. We need to fix the second bug.

Show me where the bug has been reported upstream. I happen to use 5 different accounts with it and have not seen a problem in 3.1.1.

And you will mark the bug "resolv upstream".

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=247486

I can WA the issue as long as i can launch Sunbird against different profiles; Lighting inerface is not as good as sunbird; and launching several thunbird just to be able to WA a plugin issue would really be PITA: three TB, and two of them just for the Lighting part ?

Recompiling TB3 with lightning (i did not know the FLAG existed; it did not exist when i configured my system; and I don't track each package for new flags).

If it works, then, we shall say to close the above mentionned upstream bug

Lightning back. As i said ... impossible to use several Google calendars at the same time; and switching from one to an other requires to clean profile.

Lightning has too many issues:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/2313/
removing Sunbird now is not acceptable.
