I'm using a Fujitsu Siemens S7110 with Gentoo Linux. The notebook was shipped with an Infineon TPM chip, which I wanted to activate. I've compiled all TPM drivers as modules and emerged both app-crypt/trousers and app-crypt/tpm-tools. Now occures the problem: -- # /etc/init.d/tcsd start * Starting TrouSerS' TCS daemon (tcsd) ... * No TPM device found! # tcsd -f TCSD TDDL ERROR: Could not find a device to open! -- According to the tutorial https://www.grounation.org/index.php?post/2008/07/04/8-how-to-use-a-tpm-with-linux, some chips were not recogniced as TPM chips. But the Intel ACPI Component Architecture showed that my chip 'IFX0102' was already classified as a TPM chip in 'drivers/char/tpm/tpm_tis.c'. lsmod showed that the modules tpm_tis and tpm_bios were loaded, but dmesg didn't display any line which would be related to the tpm chip.

Please retest with 0.3.6, might need to reload the modules due to udev rule changes.
I've the same results with app-crypt/trousers-0.3.6 According to other FAQs, there should be a configuration point in my BIOS where I can activate the TPM chip - but I cannot find it (I've a Phoenix Trusted Core BIOS)
Hello Dominik, Best discuss these kind of issues with upstream[1], as they know the subject better, the chance they will be able to assist is higher. If there is something we can do once you get it working, please reopen. Thanks! [1] http://trousers.sf.net
