Same happened to me. Since this, emerge eventually outputs:

 * Regenerating GNU info directory index...
install-info: warning: no info dir entry in ` `//usr/share/info/emodules.info.orig.gz'
 * Processed 110 info files; 1 errors.

Anything I can do?

Something like attached patch should be applied?

Yes, that will work. Although the best solution might be to create a new version of emodules.info-21.4.8-gentoo.patch so that the .orig file isn't created in the first place. See http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30702#c4 for a more detailed description of the problem.

Um, I'm not good in tracking my bugs. I think this one is fixed since a "while".
