Description Pál Csányi 2010-07-29 20:29:57 UTC
I installed masked genmenu after I unmasked it editing /etc/portage/package.keywords: x11-misc/genmenu.
When I run genmenu I get the first question:
Default font to use in all X terminals?
1) fixed 4) 6x9 7) 6x13bold 10) 7x14	13) 10x20
2) 5x8 5) 6x12 8) 7x13 11) 7x14bold
3) 6x10 6) 6x13 9) 7x13bold 12) 8x13
Select font:

After I select a font, say 1, I genmenu crash writing the same question infinite:
Default X terminal? (will be used to launch all console apps in the menu)

Default X terminal? (will be used to launch all console apps in the menu)

Default X terminal? (will be used to launch all console apps in the menu)

Default X terminal? (will be used to launch all console apps in the menu)

Default X terminal? (will be used to launch all console apps in the menu)

I hit Control + C to stop this.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start genmenu.
2. Select a font.

Actual Results:
Getting in infinite loop the question:
Default X terminal? (will be used to launch all console apps in the menu)

Expected Results:
I expect to get genmenu to works.

From the homepage;

This project is unfortunately abandoned by the author (gtk) and is therefore unmaintained. Feel free to take over maintainership. After all its released under the GPL. Thank you for your interest in genmenu.

We will probably treeclean this then

This was maintained for awhile (Last update: October 16 2010 17:58 PM) over here:

Have you tried to bump it locally and confirm this issue is solved?
Comment 5 teidakankan 2012-02-24 09:32:40 UTC
On an ~x86 box:

I bumped/renamed the ebuild to 1.0.9. The "genmenu-1.0.2.patch" still applied cleanly, but the "genmenu-1.0.7-e16.patch" did not so I removed it. Compiled fine and I ran it for x11-wm/windowmaker. No problems setting font, terminal, etc. Generates a usable menu but not much better/different then what the latest windowmaker does on it's own. Maybe, works better on the wm's.

Will try to bump it then when I have time
