I get an error message "Searching for program: No such file or directory, amixer" when running M-x mpg123 RET.

We should then either drop the aumix dependency, or add "alsa" and "oss" USE flags (and change dependencies and site-init file accordingly). For simplicity, I would vote for the first option.
