Description Hadrianius 2010-07-23 18:32:45 UTC
In a dual X screen setup using the x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-195.36.24 driver, the use of keyboard shortcuts on the second screen often resets the gnome theme. Clicking on System -> Keyboard Shortcuts will crash and restart either gnome or X and I am brought back to the gdm login screen. Just before being the screens blacken out I see my own theme being reinstated. It seems to only happen with media related shortcuts.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Two screens in Separate X screen setup
2. Move mouse to secondary screen
3. Use a (media related) keyboard shortcut. For example to raise or lower volume.
4. Click on System -> Keyboard Shortcuts

Actual Results:
After step 3 the theme of Gnome is reset to something that looks ancient. Also GNOME no longer responds to any keyboard shortcuts on both screens.

After step 4 GNOME or GDM crashes

Expected Results:
After step 3 the command corresponding to the shortcut should have been run.

After step 4 the Keyboard Shortcuts window should have been opened.

It doesn't matter how long the computer has been active. The computer has recently been reinstalled (two days ago) but the bug had already been there in my previous gentoo installation which was also amd64 based and had the Separate X screens layout.

Do you suffer the same problem on Gnome 2.30? You have a keywording list on bug #324077
Comment 2 Hadrianius 2010-07-23 21:07:53 UTC
That seems to have done it. Thank you for your quick reply.
