The xfce-guide.xml says: Note: If you have ConsoleKit installed, your ~/.xinitrc should instead contain exec ck-launch-session startxfce4. Otherwise, some of your applications may stop working. You'll also need to add consolekit to the default runlevel by running the following command as root: rc-update add consolekit default. But I don't think you can run "ck-launch-session" on a script (startxfce4 is a script). I'm pretty sure the correct syntax is: exec ck-launch-session xfce4-session That's also what I'm using to get xfce4-power-manager / upower working...

Works perfectly for me here, which was why I added the updated launcher command. :) Now, if the "proper" way of doing it is to use "ck-launch-session xfce4-session" for all systems, then I'll update the guide accordingly. Is xfce4-session or startxfce4 canonical? CCing the Xfce team for their feedback, too.
