I was emerging kde beta on my home system using emerge -up world and commenting out the appropriate lines in package.mask. The build failed at kdeaddons with error messages regarding "virtual functions are abstract" and it appeared that the build was looking for files related to kontact. kdepim did not build yet at this point in time. I do remember that "emerge -up world" said that kdeaddons would build ahead of kdepim. Sorry I don't have the actual error messages -- I started emerging kdepim thinking that would fix the problem and then later realized I should have filed a bug. By that time, the messages had rolled past my console buffer. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Expected Results: build kdeaddons
hmm, interesting. I suppose it'd be worthwhile to see the actual bug. I would think most likely that it's not an explicit requirement, but maybe it was picking up an old version. did you have alpha2 or alpha1 installed previously?
I did have alpha2 installed previously. Again, sorry I couldn't give you the actual error output. I am currently emerging kdepim and will try to reemerge kdeaddons after that.
Sorry - I was gone for the weekend.... Emerging kdepim-3.2.0_beta1 then emerging kdeaddons-3.2.0_beta1 fixed the above problem. it does seem like that the presence of the 3.2.0_alpha2 version of kdepim confuses the kdeaddons build.
you are correct - since stuff moved from kdenetwork to kdepim, I've changed the dep to kdepim and it works much nicer now. (beta2)
