checking which dictionaries to include... ALL checking for additional 'intro' bitmaps... configure: WARNING: Intro bitmaps should be .bmp files! checking for additional 'about' bitmaps... none this is from the build.log, could this be related?

The build system looking for intro.bmp is perfectly fine but shouldn't result in a broken build. So there has to be something else going on here. Might be something else broken on your system or a full disk. Do you still get this?

Do you still get this? > Well, the problem survivied a couple of "emerge -e world" so I do not know what that problem could have been, and no full disks here. However I seem to have been able to rebuild openoffice once since I filed this bug, so I have to rebuild to confirm if the problem has gone away or if I had to tweak the files that time too.
Hmm, seems like I cannot reproduce anymore....
