Description Narada Sage 2003-11-06 19:34:42 UTC
I emerged netscape-navigator 4.79-r1 but could not run it.

$ netscape
/opt/netscape/netscape: relocation error: /opt/netscape/netscape: symbol _res, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference

I hear there is an updated version to netscape-navigator on bug 16605 and bug 31739. May I ask that these also be given due consideration? Many thanks.

Please close this bug. Given that I'm now posting this message from netscape navigator 4.79-r1 after a fresh install of gentoo on the same machine this bug is no longer reproducible. I guess we'll never know what the problem was other than to say that it was a library issue.
Comment 2 Mamoru KOMACHI (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-04 06:17:19 UTC
okay, I close this bug as WORKSFORME.
