Bug 32919 – libpcap says must recompile with -fPIC

I attempted to emerge ntp on an amd64 system.  And when emerging the dependancy libpcam ld says: ld: libcap_wrap.o: relocation R_X86_64_32 can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC
iirc this needs to be fixed

what version of libcap did you use

well whatever, libcap-1.10-r3 is marked amd64 and has -fPIC

The bug is still occuring, I would not consider it resolved.  But yeah it's
libcap, not pcap.. sorry.  I try to emerge it and it still blows up with
the -fPIC error. I have attached the log of the problem.
and the version is libcap-1.10-r3

have you emerged synced ?

make sure theres an 'append-flags -fPIC' in the ebuild for amd64

This bug was definately fixed. I just retested and it's fine.
Marking invalid as it was previously fixed before this
report.
