But I have the suspicion that some package optimize out debug info - or I missed one to recompile. However, I cannot recompile the whole system with debug info, it's in production. But I will stick with these settings so it gets successively integrated during package maintenance. But I'd happily fix this if someone tells me how to get gdb tell me which debug info is missing - I see some "could not open file" while it is scanning and loading debug symbols without being specific.
probably fixed by xbmc-10.0
