Steps to reproduce: 1) Launch cfdisk for any visible disk in the system (e.g., cfdisk /dev/sda) 2) Select any partition, then select "Type" from the menu at the bottom 3) Attempt to type more than one character at the "Enter filesystem type" prompt Note that cfdisk from util-linux 2.17.2 does not exhibit this behavior. looks like a bug with the wide char handling. it asks for 2 bytes, but via wide chars, so you can only input 1 char.
applied the upstream patch for the issue to 2.18-r1. seems to work for me.
