From the AMD64 FAQ: Can I get Adobe Flash working? Yes. Just emerge adobe-flash. Adobe has provided a 64-bit Flash plugin starting with version 10.0.22.87. If you don't need the 32-bit plugin, then run echo "www-plugins/adobe-flash -32bit" >> /etc/portage/package.use. This will install only the 64-bit Flash plugin. Is this still valid since 10.0.* is masked due to security leaks and !10.0.* is 32bit. This is especially problematic for non-multilib installs. Perhaps the FAQ should reflect this. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
Fixed. From the commit log: "stupid adobe. they decided once again to only provide a 32-bit version of flash, making life harder for 64-bit users. updated the amd64 FAQ with the new flash info."
I saw it on gentoo-doc-cvs :) Thanks for the quick response. However, note that amd64 non-multilib users are left without a stable adobe-flash: $ grep adobe-flash /usr/portage/profiles/{,arch/amd64/no-multilib/}package.mask /usr/portage/profiles/package.mask:=www-plugins/adobe-flash-10.0* /usr/portage/profiles/arch/amd64/no-multilib/package.mask:<www-plugins/adobe-flash-10.0.20.7_alpha /usr/portage/profiles/arch/amd64/no-multilib/package.mask:>=www-plugins/adobe-flash-10.1 They do have the option to package.unmask 10.0* and try to reduce the security risk by using flashblock or something similar, but according to bug #322855 comment 23 this option is not endorsed by Gentoo so probably shouldn't be documented.
