Description Georg Sauthoff 2002-05-31 16:43:38 UTC
Hi!

I attached privoxy.tar.gz which contains privoxy-2.9.14_beta.ebuild, two
config files and the init.d script.

On http://www.privoxy.org there is a good short description of privoxy:

"Privoxy is a web proxy with advanced filtering capabilities for protecting
privacy, filtering web page content, managing cookies, controlling access, and
removing ads, banners, pop-ups and other obnoxious Internet junk. Privoxy has
a very flexible configuration and can be customized to suit individual needs
and tastes. Privoxy has application for both stand-alone systems and
multi-user networks.

Privoxy is based on Internet Junkbuster (tm)."

In my opinion Privoxy is the best junk proxy filter ever. Some features are:
- HTTP/1.1
- you can configure Privoxy with your webbrowser
- autodetection of changes in the config files
- powerful configuration possibilities
- and many more (see http://www.privoxy.org/faq/general.html)

Ok, I suggest nett-www/privoxy.

And this is my first ebuild, so perhaps I have done some beginner mistakes.

Comment 2 Georg Sauthoff 2002-07-08 14:03:08 UTC
Hello,

After a break now I have time to look after the privoxy ebuild.

I have make a new version (privoxy.tar.gz is attached) to correct a few mistakes
in my first ebuild:
- include ChangeLog
- remove Author Comment from ebuild
- better file permissions
- complete documentation (like suggested in the Privoxy Developer Manual) and
now is installed in the right location
- include man page
- will set right Content Type now ;)

Hopefully this ebuild will be added soon.

By the way, about one month after I submitted my first privoxy ebuild, someone
submitted another :) (Bug 4119). I saw this after I have made the new ebuild.
I can't post a comment to this bug, because the plattform field ist set to "" by
the author, and then bugzilla shows and an error message. I wrote him a mail a
week ago, too - but have no reply.

Regards
Georg Sauthoff

privoxy.tar.gz (New Version of Ebuild)

This is the corrected new version of the privoxy package.

Another change (I forgot in the privious comment):
-*one patch* for the little changes in the config files instead of complete
files

Ok... this ebuild is needs work. It is cleaner than the other one.

I have commented it up and changed a few things. Fix it and submit it again.
Check the other ebuild in bug 4119 for things you might have missed.

Look for the XXX marks in the ebuild.

Comment 5 Georg Sauthoff 2002-07-17 08:41:24 UTC
Hello,

I think you looked at Additional Comment #1, because I already corrected the
very bad things (like not using doman) in my attachment at the Additional
Comment #3 (like explained in A.C. #2).
But the small things from your comments, which still apply to the 2nd version
(A.C. #3), I will change them.

privoxy.tar.gz (3rd Version of Ebuild)

Here it is the 3rd Version with cosmetic changes.
Comment 7 Nicholas Jones (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-07-19 00:27:48 UTC
_Much_ nicer than the last version I looked at.

Committed after a couple changes/additions.
