Just a small headsup here for 8.71-r4. Printing the Cups test page fails with /usr/libexec/cups/filter/foomatic-rip failed. Cups-1.3.11-r2 foomatic-*-3.0.20060720 ghostscript-gpl-8.71-r1 After rebuilding app-text/ghostscript-gpl-8.71-r1 it printed a few other pages, but halts again on the test print page. Upgrading to unstable app-text/ghostscript-gpl-8.71-r4 seems to have fixed the issue here and test page seems to consistently print.

I can confirm the behavior (and fix) reported by Sune. I had similar problems and updating to the latest unstable ghostscript in portage (app-text/ghostscript-gpl-8.71-r6) made my printer work again. please mark a new version (r6?) stable asap.
Closing as fixed since ghostscript-gpl-8.71-r6 has been stabilized in the meantime (the foo2zjs gentoo package needs to be fixed though, we already have a bunch of open bug reports in this regard).
