MCP89 SATA support for the newest Macbook Pro 13 inch (and possibly other versions of the latest hardware revision for Macs) is broken. Systems cannot boot the livecd. But filed upstream with kernel.org (see https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15923). There was a patch released for the kernel but the patch has only just been mainlined and is several kernel versions ahead. Is it possible to get the patch provided in the bug report applied to the gentoo-sources tree / pushed to a livecd release to enable use of the CD? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Download / burn gentoo livecd 2. Attempt to boot cd 3. Actual Results: System loads modules, but is eventually unable to find the CDROM drive and cannot continue boot. Expected Results: System boots to a prompt.
Can you please test the latest CD available and check if it works for you?
Same problem in `install-amd64-minimal-20110421.iso`
I am also seeing this with the new Mac Mini (Dual Core with CD drive) with 'install-x86-minimal-20110726.iso'
Another quick update, this bug is still present in the latest releases of the i386 and amd64 live CDs.
Can you please test with the latest CD?
We need some feedback.
