After I´ve updated openssl to the current portage (~x86) version, my xdm started
to fail on the gdm load, saying that "libssl.so.0.9.6" wasn't available.
Then I checked for gdm updates and there was one (that I couldn't notice with
"emerge -pvu world" nor "emerge -pvu gnome", only with "emerge -pvu gdm").
After the rebuild, gdm worked fine, but when I enter my name/password it doesn't
load my gnome correctly.

What happens is that gdm goes off and after a few seconds (of intense HD access)
the "Your session lasted less than 10 seconds..." screen apeears and when I see
X error log there's only a line with a "ssession...." command.

When I do "/etc/init.d/xdm stop" and "startx" I can load gnome normally.

After messing around a bit, I've realized that it was a simple problem of
X locks...

The problem with the libssl update may happen to other users, but gdm & gnome
now works fine.

Sorry for bothering...
