OK, This probably won't make you happy, but anyway. These ebuilds are not going to be committed to the portage tree: 1. Theme type ebuilds don't tend to have that big of a user base. 2. The work involved in testing the (often frequent) initial releases does not warrant the number of users. 3. They tend to go "stale" or unmaintained upstream fairly quickly after the initial popularity wears off. I will be testing these ebuilds and putting them up on dev.gentoo.org/~tad so that people can place them in their PORTDIR_OVERLAY directory. Thankyou for the effort that you have made in submitting these ebuilds it is appreciated.
Just replying to your points here: 1. Theme type ebuilds don't tend to have that big of a user base. http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=7264 13393 downloads for the kool gorilla icon theme since Aug 1 2003 http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=6927 19237 downloads for the gorilla icon theme since June 7 2003 2. The work involved in testing the (often frequent) initial releases does not warrant the number of users. The work involved is trivial and the number of users will not be as small as you suggest. 3. They tend to go "stale" or unmaintained upstream fairly quickly after the initial popularity wears off. That is why they must be chosen carefully. For example the ones I submitted so far are among the most popular and best rated eye-candy on www.kde-look.org. Having said that I really think the gorilla theme should go in main gentoo because it is a high quality icons set and very popular on www.kde-look.org. Thus it will benefit gentoo's KDE userbase.
Ok, Ok, it's been committed to cvs (and it's already bumped a version too).
