Trying to install Gentoo as a virtual machine using install-x86-minimal-20100216.iso mounted as the virtual cd drive. Host: VMware ESXi 3.5.0. Install is booting fine, and after "Making tmpfs for /newroot" tries to mount cdrom media "/dev/sda" (which is incorrect, because virtual cd in vmware works as an IDE emulation) and then gives up with "Media not found" message. Looks like installer can't find the IDE CD drive. After entering shell no sign of /dev/hd* files, only /dev/sd* Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a new Linux virtual machine with CDROM drive in VMware ESXi 3.5.0 server 2. Mount iso and start virtual machine 3. Press enter on "boot:" prompt and try to complete standard installation Actual Results: installation failed, with "Media not found" message Expected Results: Bootable CD should be found and installation should continue.
