It used to work under x 1.4 with xinerama, and, todays, works only with xinerama disabled under actual X 1.8

(yet an other X >1.4 breakage)

That's beyond my abilities. Please file a bug upstream [1]. If you do, please paste the URL here so we can track the issue.
