I'm trying to reset my sound card to the default values ALSA uses with: $ alsactl init 0 However, that does not work: alsactl: parse:1655: Unable to open file '/usr/share/alsa/init/ca0106': No such file or directory /usr/share/alsa/init contains only the following: -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1.8K 2010-07-02 13:15 00main -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 7.4K 2010-07-02 13:15 default -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1.5K 2010-07-02 13:15 hda -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 391 2010-07-02 13:15 help -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 932 2010-07-02 13:15 info -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 11K 2010-07-02 13:15 test

Upstream ALSA does not supply this ca0106 init file. Even versions as recent as 1.0.25 do not have it. I believe it is either intentional or an oversight in the ALSA distribution that should be corrected at the source. If this functionality is important to you, could you please report this bug upstream? I have linked the ALSA bug tracker in the URL field for your convenience. I apologise for not being able to do more, but the Gentoo ALSA team is a one-man band at present.
It's not important.
