Description Fred Krogh 2010-06-29 21:07:08 UTC
I tried a soft link to /usr/lib64/libpng.so, and got this failure "./chrome: /usr/lib64/libpng12.so.0: version `PNG12_0' not found (required by ./chrome)".
My libpng.so points to libpng14.so.14.3.0.

Reproducible: Always

Did you upgrade to libpng-1.4.3?

Did you run libpng-1.4.x-update.sh as the elog message suggested??

Read this post on how to solve libpng related problems:

Comment 2 Fred Krogh 2010-06-29 21:29:29 UTC
Thanks for the response. First there was nothing in the elog suggesting that I run libpng-1.4.x-update.sh, but I just did and it makes no difference. Equery list libpng shows

[IP-] [ ] media-libs/libpng-1.2.44:1.2
[IP-] [ ] media-libs/libpng-1.4.3:0

I think I deleted /usr/lib64/libpng12.so.0 as instructed from an elog message a few (?) days ago. But equery files libpng-1.2.44 shows
/usr
/usr/lib64
/usr/lib64/libpng12.so.0

Should I be running emerge libpng-1.2.44 or perhaps emerge -C libpng-1.2.44?
Thanks.

You shouldn't delete the file if you install libpng-1.2.44...

Just "emerge -1 =libpng-1.2.44" to get it back and all should be fine again

Then close this bug, please

Sorry to have troubled you. Your fix worked. I've marked this as invalid.
Thanks.
