Cherokee webserver could be compiled without rrdtool support, although its configuration system doesn't use any switch for it (reported: http://code.google.com/p/cherokee/issues/detail?id=877). Meanwhile, I suppose, Gentoo ebuild should have corresponding USE-flag for people to switch rrd support off. Proposed ebuild (diff) introduces rrdtool USE-flag affecting just RDEPEND. When upstream adds configuration switch, we could add proper $(use_with ...)
