Description Luis Fernando Schultz Xavier da Silveira 2010-06-21 11:48:23 UTC
media-sound/lilypond-2.12.3 fails in the configuration step not being able to locate the header Python.h. The header is in /usr/include/python2.6/Python.h and I have python2.6 selected as my default python profile.

I am not sure what caused the failure, but if it helps I can say I also have python3 installed and that I disabled the python use flag in all packages I installed (except those where it was required).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge -v lilypond
Actual Results:
Compilation failed.

Expected Results:
Compilation and installation went right.

Portage 2.1.8.3 (default/linux/amd64/10.0/no-multilib, gcc-4.4.3, glibc-2.10.1-r1, 2.6.32-gentoo-r7 x86_64)

It also happens in versions 2.12.2 and 2.12.2-r1. I tried 2.12.2 first and tested the others next. I will attach the build log for 2.12.2.

What does 'python-config --includes' have to say? Does it point to /usr/include/python2.6 like it should?

$ python-config --includes
-I/usr/include/python2.6 -I/usr/include/python2.6
$

Apparently everything is all right.

Comment 5 Wormo (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-06-25 06:12:08 UTC
Ok, in that case attach the config.log from the lilypond build directory which hopefully will have good clues.

Comment 7 Wormo (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-06-27 06:44:27 UTC
error: unrecognized command line option "-fno-strict-aliasing.1"

Question is, where this mis-formed option is coming from -- do you see it in 'python-config --cflags' ?

For reference, mine says

-I/usr/include/python2.6 -I/usr/include/python2.6 -fno-strict-aliasing -DNDEBUG

Comment 8 Luis Fernando Schultz Xavier da Silveira 2010-06-27 13:36:35 UTC
$ python-config --cflags
-I/usr/include/python2.6 -I/usr/include/python2.6 -fno-strict-aliasing -march=core2 -msse4.1 -O2 -pipe -Wall -fwrapv -DNDEBUG
$

I guess the ".1" could be comming from the "-msse4.1".

Odd how the CFLAGS for python got mangled, I suppose it's the lilypond configure script doing it...

Assigning to lilypond maintainers.
Comment 10 Siim Ainsaar 2010-06-28 16:07:11 UTC
I'd suggest to continue as in http://www.mail-archive.com/lilypond-devel@gnu.org/msg18803.html and just add \|\. to the regexp in the sed command. Patching the aclocal.m4 accordingly and calling eautoconf from the ebuild makes the program compile and, as it seems, work again. I'll subsequently attach my patch for the ebuild, as well as the patch the new ebuild applies.
