Description Marcin Kryczek 2010-06-20 12:11:24 UTC
after upgrading adobe-flash to 10.1.53.64, chromium-bin (5.0.376.0_p44230) does not show any flash content and gives information about missing plugin.
downgrading to 10.0.45.2-r1 fix that issue.

FLASH 10.1.53.64 is 32bit only you will need nsplugin wrapper for it to function until Adobe releases a 64bit plugin
Comment 2 Marcin Kryczek 2010-06-21 12:17:26 UTC
so it should be masked on amd64, am i right?
Comment 3 Wormo (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-06-24 18:34:23 UTC
Actually, it is supposed to work on amd64 in 32-bit mode, and it is important to upgrade to 10.1 because 10.0 has significant security problems.

So, is there any chance you would try out another browser (e.g. firefox-bin) with the upgraded flash to determine whether the 10.1 flash plugin is totally broken on your box or just has an incompatibility with chromium-bin?
Comment 4 Marcin Kryczek 2010-06-24 18:44:46 UTC
it works well in firefox
Comment 5 Wormo (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-06-26 05:44:35 UTC
Ok, time to assign yet another flash 10.1 bug to the poor maintainers ;)
Comment 6 Guillaume BINET 2010-06-26 21:09:08 UTC
If I am not mistaken, the chromium-bin doesn't behave like firefox-bin and install a 64bits binary version instead of a 32bits one :

SRC_URI="x86? ( http://build.chromium.org/buildbot/snapshots/chromium-rel-linux/${MY_PV}/chrome-linux.zip -> ${PN}-x86-${MY_PV}.zip )
        amd64? ( http://build.chromium.org/buildbot/snapshots/chromium-rel-linux-64/${MY_PV}/chrome-linux.zip -> ${PN}-amd64-${MY_PV}.zip )"

Simply removing the 64bits or having a forcing flag for the 32 bits version could help here ?

Comment 7 Jim Ramsay (lack) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-06-28 13:13:57 UTC
I'm pretty sure that using flash 10.1 in nspluginwrapper within a new-enough 64-bit chromium is okay, see discussion in bug #324365 for details.

Adding Chromium-bin maintainers for an official answer: What about chromium-bin? Are any versions there safe to use with flash 10.1 and nspluginwrapper?
Comment 8 Bernard Cafarelli gentoo-dev 2010-06-28 20:10:33 UTC
Indeed! The version needs to be new enough to have the workaround upstream added for flash 10.1

As chromium-bin only follows trunk versions, I've added
6.0.451.0_p51005 to the tree, tested and working on amd64/nspluginwrapper/latest flash
Comment 9 Bernard Cafarelli gentoo-dev 2010-07-19 08:24:35 UTC
Added 6.0.470.0_p52843 for people using chromium-bin and nvidia binary drivers, so far so good with nspluginwrapper

So we should be all good here :)
