When I open the search box in jEdit and close it with the Esc key instead of pressing the close button with the mouse, then reopen it, the focus is not in the search box like it should be, and I have to press tab to get it there. Steps to reproduce: 1. press ctrl+f 2. press the Esc key 3. repeat 1-2 until the search box appears but the focus is not in the main input box 4. press Tab to get into the search box This is not a window manager bug, it happens even if you just start X server by typing "X" and then starting jedit from another terminal.

Just tested in metacity. Same problem.
Tested in Windows XP in a 32-bit VM, problem doesn't happen there.
Please test if the issue still exists in version 5.0.0
