I try to execute audacious2 with remote display via ssh -X and get X11 errors. audtool2 gives errors pertaining to dbus and X. This all works locally. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. gentoo and X11 on 2 boxes 2. ssh -X from box1 to box2 and execute audacious2 or audtool2 3. fail Actual Results: me@box1 ~ $ ssh -X me@box2 audacious2 The program 'audacious2' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadAtom (invalid Atom parameter)'. (Details: serial 3 error_code 5 request_code 20 minor_code 0) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) OR me@box1 ~ $ ssh -X me@box2 audtool2 In program audtool2: * While attempting to connect to the D-Bus session bus Error: D-Bus Error: /usr/bin/dbus-launch terminated abnormally with the following error: X Error of failed request: BadAtom (invalid Atom parameter) Major opcode of failed request: 20 (X_GetProperty) Atom id in failed request: 0x17 Serial number of failed request: 3 Current serial number in output stream: 3 Expected Results: functional audacious2 with remote display, or audtool2 giving appropriate output. Hi Leeman, sry, I just googled http://www.brandonhutchinson.com/BadAtom_BadWindow_errors_with_ssh_X11_forwarding.html which suggests using `ssh -Y` aka TrustedX11Forwarding. This is default in my /etc/ssh/ssh_config (default client options) ForwardX11 yes ForwardX11Trusted yes And I never say this kind of error in many years of heavy X11 forwarding. Please report back if -Y doesn't fix it. Michael

This did indeed fix the issue. I googled all kinds of audacious + X11 stuff. Didn't think to google it without audacious. Thanks for finding it.
