NetBeans 6.9 has been released which of course leads to this cant-wait-a-couple-of-days request. Main reason is I would like to take the opportunity to replace the low-res icon used for NetBeans with a good-looking high-res one (see additional info). Reproducible: Always A high-res icon can be produced by using the OSX icon file and the nifty icns2png tool as such: /usr/share/netbeans-6.8/nb6.8 $ icns2png -x -s 128 -d 32 netbeans.icns which priduces an iconb 128x128 32 bit color.
unfortunately i have several issues with building netbeans 6.9. one issue is related to building netbeans itself, as it bundles jruby-1.5.0 (which we even do not have in gentoo yet) and it fails with a weird compilation bug so this is a stopper atm. the other i faced while using ebuild to build netbeans 6.9 where it failed with not being able to find some core ant classes. iirc it was during building jruby too, so after the first issue will be fixed, i will try to find solution for the second one if still will occur.
netbeans 6.9 is now in tree, but i had to temporarily drop ~x86 keyword because of dependency on jruby-1.5.1. when bug 325107 is closed, i will put the keyword back. for now leaving this bug open as reminder for adding back ~x86.
Not that it's the most important thing, but how about adding the hi-res icon? Would it be of use if I extracted it and attached it to this bug?
atm i use /usr/share/netbeans-6.9/nb/netbeans.png for the icon. if you attach here high resolution icon, i can use that instead.

netbeans 6.9 is now ~x86 too. i did not add the icon yet, will add it with some update if i do not forget, do not want to make users have to rebuild netbeans just because of icon. closing this bug.
