Since Version 0.2.11  mpg321 cannot be started without a controlling terminal.
Which is IMHO one of the leading purposes of a CLI-MP3-player.

There is already a fix on the developer's site that I'd like to see in Gentoo for Version mpg321-0.2.11-2. It adds a "-x"-switch to tell mpg321 not to depend on a terminal

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge mpg321
2. create cronjob to start mpg321, piping output to log


Actual Results:  
mpg321: failed to get controlling terminal

Expected Results:  
simply run

If I read right from your post, 0.2.12 should fix this. Reopen if not.
