policyd-1.82 is considered stable by upstream since 08/2007, it's in portage since 10/2007 without any changes since 05/2009. upstream will support 1.xx just for fixes and has moved to the 2.xx series 

There is a bug with two patches (bug #288438), one of the two is just a cosmetic fix in logging, the other one should fix a bug when used with SASL, which I'm not doing and cannot test.

I'd suggest to either apply or reject the patches, stable policyd-1.82, and forget about the 1.x series.

I can report that policyd-1.82 is stable on amd64 when not using SASL, I'm using it for some years on multiple production mail servers.

So guys after years of usage what is keeping policyd from being keyworded stable?

@eras, you should drop -g from cflags and add die where is needed.
