The Ubuntu team has been working on alsa support for tvtime for some time now. I thought it might be a good idea to implement this into Gentoo as well. OSS was deprecated in the kernel a long time ago and tvtime is the only reason why I've been using OSS/OSS emulation. I think that some of the patches that tvtime-1.0.2-r2.ebuild uses are included in the Ubuntu Lucid patch, tvtime-1.0.2-glibc-2.10.patch is one of them. The patch I've been using can be found att https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tvtime/1.0.2-5ubuntu2 . Reproducible: Always

Patch is added in tvtime-1.0.2_p20110131-r1.
As this patch is causing new issues (bug 384215), I've made applying it optional via the alsa USE flag and masked that flag for now. Once that patch is sufficiently tested and stable, we can put it back into the 'defaults'.
