This could be an upstream issue. 

The "semantic desktop" horrible misfeature that has recently been removed from kde (shortly after people started trying to use kde4 and started screaming about how horrible it was) is now required for akregator. I don't know what the issues are but I need akregator but kdelibs built with the semantic-desktop use flag simply will not permit an acceptable system performance under any circumstances. I'm at a serious impase here. =(

This is an upstream option and can thus not be avoided.

akregator-4.4.4 (like previous version) has a hard dep on libkdepim
libkdepim-.4.4.4 (unlikep previous versions) has a hard dep on kdepimlibs[semantic-desktop]
