Description Juergen Rose 2010-06-08 10:40:27 UTC
In .xsessions-errors I find just after login:
GNOME_KEYRING_SOCKET=/tmp/keyring-htPVoO/socket
SSH_AUTH_SOCK=/tmp/keyring-htPVoO/socket.ssh

(gnome-settings-daemon:7582): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_param_spec_flags: assertion `G_TYPE_IS_FLAGS (flags_type)' failed

(gnome-settings-daemon:7582): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_class_install_property: assertion `G_IS_PARAM_SPEC (pspec)' failed

** (bluetooth-applet:7624): WARNING **: Could not open RFKILL control device, please verify your installation

I am wondering if the GLib-GObject-CRITICAL is the reason for the following bluetooth-applet error (wrong permission of /dev/rfkill).

Reproducible: Always

I don't think that these were critical in any way.

I don't think so, it's related to but 315351, please check your permissions on that file with `ls -l /dev/rfkill`, the group should be plugdev and the mode at least g+rw, like 0664. You can archieve this with the udev rule attacht to this bug.

Erm sorry, bug 315351 and you should be in that plugdev group, too (`id` to check).
Comment 3 Juergen Rose 2010-06-08 13:57:13 UTC
I am using the udev rule mentioned in bug 315351, I belong to plugdev group, but nevertheless has /dev/rfkill no write group permission. I was afraid, that it is any way connected with gnome-settings-daemon.
Comment 4 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-06-08 14:07:04 UTC
CRITICAL are not FATAL, if you want to complain about code quality, I think upstream is a better audience here. Do not use the udev rules I have provided in the other bug, if it does not work, thanks.
Comment 5 Juergen Rose 2010-06-08 15:07:17 UTC
Hi Michael and Gilles,
OK, I accept that I have to tolerate GLib-GObject-CRITICAL.
But - Gilles - could you please look, what I wrote at bug 315351
about contradicting information about rfkill in /lib/udev/rules.d/50-udev-default.rules and /etc/udev/rules.d/40-rfkill.rules.
