Hello matt,

can you please attach the full build.log?

Thanks, Michael

Please add the full output of "emerge --info" to this bug (the one you posted lacks all your USE flags) as well as the output of

  emerge -qpv xf86-video-virtualbox

Please post the output of

find /usr/src/linux-$(uname -r) -name "types.h" -o -name "stddef.h" -o -name "string.h" | grep 'linux/[[:alpha:]]\+.h'

to this bug.
Comment 6 matt 2010-06-08 19:27:06 UTC
gentoo64at ~ # find /usr/src/linux-$(uname -r) -name "types.h" -o -name "stddef.h" -o -name "string.h" | grep 'linux/[[:alpha:]]\+.h'
gentoo64at ~ #

no output
Comment 7 Lars Wendler (Polynomial-C) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-06-08 19:47:33 UTC
That explains the build error. x11-drivers/xf86-video-virtualbox needs fully configured and compiled kernel sources in /usr/src/linux

The command should give this kind of outpout when your kernel sources are okay:

vbox-x86:~ # find /usr/src/linux-$(uname -r) -name "types.h" -o -name "stddef.h" -o -name "string.h" | grep 'linux/[[:alpha:]]\+.h'
/usr/src/linux-2.6.32.15/include/linux/stddef.h
/usr/src/linux-2.6.32.15/include/linux/types.h
/usr/src/linux-2.6.32.15/include/linux/string.h
vbox-x86:~ #

The fact that you don't have neither linux/types.h, linux/stddef.h nor linux/string.h means that you don't have kernel sources under /usr/src/linux that are ready to compile external drivers against.
