These plugins are both better than the oss default plugin that is set in GConf
by default.

If you use the esd plugin you will get sound support via esd in all esd
applications such as totem can use it.

Or.. Alsa is a superior technology producing great sound...

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

a) Have you tested theese?

b) Last tested they didn't work. alsa is documented as not working (no,
compiling isn't enough. Testing.) until development series, which isn't
compatible with current version in portage.

c) esd is the wildcard here, but as I recall it is broken too, though I'm
not too sure here.

I've been using both and they both work. All I did was rename the ebuilds.
I've extensively used ESD and i haven't found any flaws with it.

esd was broken in 0.6.3 but got mostly fixed, 0.6.4 got added to the tree
a few days ago.

alsa was and is broken and probably will be for all the 0.6 series.

hmm closing as fixed because esd is already in
