Description Christopher Ruwe 2010-06-05 11:21:21 UTC
attached is an ebuild which installs RSSOwl 2.0.5 into /opt.

RSSOwl (http://www.rssowl.org) is a feed reader rich in features written in Java.

Package is written as an Eclipse Rich Application. Reason for binary install is that the application sources require (apparently? : http://wiki.rssowl.org/index.php/Build_RSSOwl_2.0) manual compilation in Eclipse.

I suggest, although aware of the caveats, installing upstram binaries for economical reasons.

Comment 2 Michael Weber (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-06-06 22:36:11 UTC
Hello, The Gentoo Team would like to firstly thank you for your ebuild
submission. We also apologize for not being able to accommodate you in a timely
manner. There are simply too many new packages.

Allow me to use this opportunity to introduce you to Gentoo Sunrise. The
sunrise overlay[1] is a overlay for Gentoo which we allow trusted users to
commit to and all users can have ebuilds reviewed by Gentoo devs for entry
into the overlay. So, the sunrise team is suggesting that you look into this
and submit your ebuild to the overlay where even *you* can commit to. =)

Thanks,
On behalf of the Gentoo Sunrise Team,
Michael "not a sunrise member yet" Weber.

p.s. no need to to dodir /opt, doins creates missing dirs, but we better discuss this on #gentoo-sunrise.
Comment 3 Christopher Ruwe 2012-06-21 16:29:56 UTC
considering the age of the ebuild-proposal, I suggest closing the bug.
