Description Marcelo Mustafa Murad 2003-10-29 07:26:24 UTC
When I run gentoo-sources with ide dma it freezes on boot trying to do a
patition check.

The only way I get it to work was passing ide=nodma on grub.

But when tried with vanilla-sources it did work just fine with ide dma.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Turn on the computer and boot from gentoo-sources
2.
3.

Actual Results:
It freezes trying to do a partiton check.

Expected Results:
Boot.

The current gentoo-sources is based off of 2.4.20 which does not have support
for the ati igp stuff, you'll have to wait for gentoo-sources to get updated
or use a different kernel. (hint: gentoo-test-sources will become gentoo-sources
soon, so if you try it and let me know if it does or doesn't work, then it'll
be that much sooner that there is a gentoo-sources that will work for you)

I just tried the new gentoo-sources 2.4.20-r9 and it did not work.

No, I meant the 2.4.22 based gentoo-sources which is in ~x86 right now. Not another 2.4.20 based revision. Since you are feeling in a testing mood, why don't you give that a shot. It'll be in x86 in a few days, but if you test it before then, you may be able to find a bug and help us make an even better Gentoo.

I will try it now and let you know.
