This is a new phonon backend that is in alpha stage, but works fine for me. It has better audio quality compared to phonon-xine and improved support for FLAC and APE files in amarok :-) All you need is phonon and libvlc-1.1. Reproducible: Always
Created attachment 233879 [details] phonon-vlc-9999.ebuild This is a git ebuild for phonon-vlc. It works fine for me, however this [1] blog suggests, that one should run kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental after the installation. I was not sure if it is safe to do so in an ebuild and it wasn't needed on my system either.
Hello, The Gentoo Team would like to firstly thank you for your ebuild submission. We also apologize for not being able to accommodate you in a timely manner. There are simply too many new packages. Allow me to use this opportunity to introduce you to Gentoo Sunrise. The sunrise overlay[1] is a overlay for Gentoo which we allow trusted users to commit to and all users can have ebuilds reviewed by Gentoo devs for entry into the overlay. So, the sunrise team is suggesting that you look into this and submit your ebuild to the overlay where even *you* can commit to. =) Thanks, On behalf of the Gentoo Sunrise Team, Markos. This package has been available in the kde overlay for sometime now - http://git.overlays.gentoo.org/gitweb/?p=proj/kde.git;a=tree;f=media-sound/phonon-vlc;h=70954e7ff4404b2fc64c094943e613e76950cad2;hb=master
The package seems to be in gx86 already.
