Description Fabio Rossi 2010-05-31 14:45:33 UTC
All vmware-modules ebuilds in the tree don't work with the new 2.6.34 kernel due to a new net helper introduced here:

http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/next/linux-next.git;a=commit;h=aa395145165cb06a0d0885221bbe0ce4a564391d

I'm attaching the needed patches.

patch for vmware-modules-1.0.0.26

Hi all

FWIW: Yes, this bug is still there.

tried with vanilla-sources-2.6.35_rc6 and vmware-modules-1.0.0.26 as of Aug 2nd 2010, an it bites.

Had no problems with 2.6.34, so suggest changing summary to:
app-emulation/vmware-modules-1.0.0.2[4-6] doesn't compile with kernel >2.6.34
Comment 4 Vadim Kuznetsov (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-08-04 19:05:40 UTC
patch is in the tree. Thanks.
Comment 5 Justin 2010-10-29 18:46:34 UTC
The ebuild only checks for 2.6.35 and not for >= 2.6.35.
2.6.36 (and I'm guessing all future versions) needs the patch as well.
