Description Alexander Bezrukov 2010-05-30 00:30:35 UTC
I am running a system with system locale en_US.utf8.

media-fonts/nanumfont-2.0 tries to install *.ttf files with names which are in an encoding which is incompatible with UTF-8. This confuses portage as follows:

alb@dell:~>equery f media-fonts/nanumfont-2.0
[ Searching for packages matching media-fonts/nanumfont-2.0... ]
* Contents of media-fonts/nanumfont-2.0:
/usr
/usr/share
/usr/share/fonts
/usr/share/fonts/nanumfont
/usr/share/fonts/nanumfont/encodings.dir
/usr/share/fonts/nanumfont/fonts.dir
/usr/share/fonts/nanumfont/fonts.scale
!!! Internal portage error, terminating
!!! ascii

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge =media-fonts/nanumfont-2.0
2. ls -l /usr/share/fonts/nanumfont
3. equery f =media-fonts/nanumfont-2.0

Actual Results:
ls lists files with names with invalid characters, equery aborts with internal portage error.

Expected Results:
The ebuild should install files with correct names, preferably pure ascii ones.

Those are 나눔고딕코딩-Bold.ttf and 나눔고딕코딩.ttf;
that's the "beauty" of zip archives - names stored
in whatever locale system that created the archive was using.
It's cp949.

However, zipnote crashes on an attempt to correct those names
- I think I'll file a bug about it.

Thank you for report Alexander! I've added hack to avoid installation of files in such encoding. That said, somebody should report this issue upstream, but I really unable to read what's written on their website...

Well, that archive probably unpacks just fine...
on Windows when the language is set to Korean.
