Profile: default/linux/x86/10.0 I tried to update portage. Portage told me to update python to 2.6 (using 2.5). I tried to update python (to 2.6) and was not able to because of an ebuild needing python 2.6. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1) install and use latest python-2.5 (2.5.4-r4) (python-2.6 not jet installed) 2) install and use latest portage 2.1.6.13 (the oldest portage version still in the tree that can be installed with python-2.5) 3)try to emerge dev-lang/python 2.6.5-r1 (current stable) or 3) try to emerge dev-lang/python 2.6.5-r2 (after unmasking) or 3) try to emerge sys-apps/portage (any version > 2.1.6.13) Actual Results: Python-2.6 cannot be installed. Expected Results: Python-2.6 should have been installed. --- Solution --- Since I found no available python 2.6 version installable with portage <= 2.1.6.13 I patched the stable ebuild of python-2.6 to work correctly.
