Description P Purkayastha 2010-05-25 20:59:24 UTC
When changing properties of the mouse by using xset m, the mouse gets stuck and can not be moved, or it can be moved only horizontally.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start bare X (works even in a DE or WM) by "X &"
2. Open a terminal "DISPLAY=:0.0 xterm &"
3. Change to vt7 and run "xset m 1/2 0". If mouse doesn't get stuck, then try to change the mouse setting back to default by running "xset m 2/1 4". Now, mouse gets stuck and can not be moved arbitrarily.

Actual Results:
Mouse gets stuck

Expected Results:
Expected mouse to have changed it's properties and not just be unmovable.

This is on stable xorg. xorg-server-1.7.6, and nvidia drivers.

I have heard reports on xorg-server-1.7.7 and 1.8 also (from IRC #e). It looks like an upstream bug since I was able to reproduce this problem on a ubuntu-10.04 x86 default installation (which runs xorg-server-1.7.6).

Hello,

did you find any upstream bugs related to this problem?

No. I didn't find any when I had searched a week ago.

Please file a bug upstream [1] and paste the URL here so we can track the issue.

Thanks

I've CCed myself on the upstream bug, let's track the issue there directly.

Thanks
