I'm running Gentoo Hardened No-Multilib on my computer. In approximately one of 20 boots, the machine freezes on early-bootup showing "Booting processor 2 APIC 0x2 ip 0x6000" as the last line. Due to the fact that I cannot catch the messages in a logfile, I've submitted the output as a screenshot. This odd behaviour could be linked with the problem with which 'sys-power/cpufrequtils-005-r1' is confrontated: cpufreq-info cpufrequtils 005: cpufreq-info (C) Dominik Brodowski 2004-2006 Report Sorry, this was assigned to the wrong place. We have recently stabilized 2.6.32-r9 on x86. Do you want to try it and see if you get the same problem.

Created attachment 240279 [details] configfile for the kernel 2.6.32-hardened-r9 I've upgraded to the new kernel 2.6.32-hardened-r9, but the problem keeps the same.
Its hard for me to get a handle on this one and I don't have this hardware. Can I ask the reporter to try two things: 1) sending acpi=off as a kernel parameter, and 2) try vanilla-2.6.32.16 with the same config. Try both independently and together. Let's see if we can figure out whether this is a hardened issue and/or an acpi issue.
Thank's for the reply. I will follow your two suggestions and see, if the system continues to freeze. A third option would be to flash the BIOS. Although the mainboard is still shiny, there are a couple of updates available for the D510MO Mainboard (see http://downloadmirror.intel.com/19278/eng/MO_0311_ReleaseNotes.pdf)

Using the vanilla-sources results in the same error. After upgrading the BIOS to its newest version, it seems that the error passed away. I can't say for sure that this solved the problem (because the error occured not very often)

It doens't sound like this is a problem we need to pursue at our end so I'm closing this bug.
