Reading http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=320511#c3 seems that some people don't read elog messages. In my case, I periodically check my /var/log/portage/elog/* for new elog messages and, then, I remove that files. Maybe emerge could enforce this behavior showing a message when files are present in LOGDIR (that message would also show LOGDIR location to let people find them easily) Thanks a lot Reproducible: Always
We might need a better way to "mark as read" than deleting the logs. Also, the current default PORTAGE_ELOG_SYSTEM setting in make.globals is "save_summary echo", so the only file that's created by default is summary.log. If we're going to create a "mark as read" system, then we can probably disable the "echo" module by default since that tends to flood the terminal and thus be ignored be the user.
It would be much better of course, I simply wanted to "show the problem" and suggest the first proposition I thought about :-)
