Description Dmitriy Shnayder 2003-10-26 07:06:20 UTC
When I run xlock, it runs normally until it reaches molecule mode. Then it
crashes, which means that xlock stops and it is as if I did not run the command.
I am using an ATI Rage 128 video card. I see an error message in the terminal
from which I started X. The X server itself does not crash, though. From reading
the "xlock" man page, I do not see how to tell xlock to skip running the
screensaver in this mode.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open xterm or rxvt within any window manager.
2. Type "xlock -mode molecule".
3. xlock crashes immediately.

Actual Results:
I see the following error message:

Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Access control list restored.
xlock: caught signal 11 while running molecule mode (uid 2001).

Expected Results:
The software should skip the molecule mode if it cannot display it, and instead
display the next viewable screen saver.

I am also running grsecurity, which I have compiled into the kernel, with the
setting to report crashes to the log. So the crash is also recorded there.
"emerge --info" displays the following:

Neither of the versions in portage (5.04 and 5.08.2) have the molecule mode. What version were you using?
Comment 2 Dmitriy Shnayder 2003-12-03 22:03:05 UTC
I have updated Gentoo some time after originally filing the bug, so now I have a newer version of xlock as well, an no longer have that problem. I will put the version number of the program for which I am reporting a bug in the future.
