When I run xlock, it runs normally until it reaches molecule mode. Then it crashes, which means that xlock stops and it is as if I did not run the command. I am using an ATI Rage 128 video card. I see an error message in the terminal from which I started X. The X server itself does not crash, though. From reading the "xlock" man page, I do not see how to tell xlock to skip running the screensaver in this mode. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open xterm or rxvt within any window manager. 2. Type "xlock -mode molecule". 3. xlock crashes immediately. Actual Results: I see the following error message: Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0". Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0". Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0". Access control list restored. xlock: caught signal 11 while running molecule mode (uid 2001). Expected Results: The software should skip the molecule mode if it cannot display it, and instead display the next viewable screen saver. I am also running grsecurity, which I have compiled into the kernel, with the setting to report crashes to the log. So the crash is also recorded there. "emerge --info" displays the following: Portage 2.0.49-r15 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.2.3, glibc-2.3.2-r1, 2.4.20-gentoo-r5) ================================================================= System uname: 2.4.20-gentoo-r5 i686 Pentium III (Coppermine) Gentoo Base System version 1.4.3.10p1 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-mcpu=pentium3 -O3 -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /var/qmail/control /usr/share/config /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-mcpu=pentium3 -O3 -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs sandbox ccache userpriv usersandbox notitles" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://www.ibiblio.org/gentoo ftp://ftp.gtlib.cc.gatech.edu/pub/gentoo ftp://ftp.ucsb.edu/pub/mirrors/linux/gentoo/ ftp://gentoo.mirrors.pair.com/ http://oss.redundant.com/pub/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.us.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 avi crypt gif jpeg libg++ mpeg ncurses nls pdflib png quicktime spell truetype xml2 xv zlib gdbm berkdb readline aalib svga java ruby X sdl gpm tcpd pam libwww ssl perl python esd imlib gtk qt motif opengl mozilla ldap acl athena autofs curl directfb ethereal etwin fbcon foreign-package foreign-sysvinit imap j-nomsn j-nomuconf j-noyahoo javascript junit leim lids maildir mbox md5sum memlimit moznocompose mozp3p mpi mule nptl oav pcap plotutils rage128 skey snmp socks5 sqlite transparent-proxy X509 xchattext xfs -oss -apm -arts -cups -encode -foomaticdb -kde -gnome -mad -mikmod -oggvorbis -xmms -slang -tetex"
Neither of the versions in portage (5.04 and 5.08.2) have the molecule mode. What version were you using?
I have updated Gentoo some time after originally filing the bug, so now I have a newer version of xlock as well, an no longer have that problem. I will put the version number of the program for which I am reporting a bug in the future.
