Description Wout Mertens (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-05-29 17:17:22 UTC
When I access bugs.gentoo.org from behind a proxy (I tried two), I need to log
in the whole time, it doesn't honour my cookies. When I'm direct, there is no
problem.
Comment 1 Wout Mertens (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-05-29 17:21:21 UTC
Actually, there seems to be a problem with my ISPs proxy after all. All of a
sudden, I can have enters in my comments, and I don't have to log in. Using my
second proxy currently (I only have access to two).
But the weird thing is, I don't have problems like this using other sites and
my ISPs proxy, as far as I can tell...

Any thoughts?
Comment 2 Wout Mertens (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-06-01 07:27:52 UTC
Ok, so, I am now probably behind the transparant proxy of yet another provider, and I have the same problems. So it's not just my provider, it's something else, most probably on bugs.gentoo.org, because bugzilla.mozilla.org doesn't have the same problems.
Comment 3 Wout Mertens (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-06-02 17:15:59 UTC
This is a test. I am currently running on the proxy at my work,
and it seems that the newline problem does not occur there.

This should be a line all by itself

This is a long line. If I were to do this using my proxy from my ISP, this
post would be all mashed together. Could it be related with the other cookie
problem, something like line ending changing on your side? I don't have these
problems with bugzilla.mozilla.org... And I am not the only one.

Comment 4 Wout Mertens (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-06-02 17:18:20 UTC
Here I am using my provider proxy again. As I suspect, this comment will be all on one line, no line endings provided. Now to check another browser than Konqueror. Oh, btw, cookies don't work with this proxy of course, but you already knew that.
Comment 5 Wout Mertens (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-06-02 17:25:28 UTC
This is written using w3m, with my provider proxy. I embed newlines in the
comment.

This line should be all by itself.
Comment 6 Wout Mertens (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-06-02 17:27:52 UTC
Ok, so the newline problem seems to be only konqueror-related, but it also has to do with the proxy I am using. The cookie problem is purely proxy-related. Please fix :)
Comment 7 george 2002-06-24 11:33:11 UTC
It seems I have exactly the same problems. I can't try without a proxy at the
moment to prove it but my symptoms are exactly the same:

I have to reauthenticate for each page.

A post I made with Konqueror didn't wrap.

The only other info I can offer is that I have both Konqueror and Galeon set to
ask me about cookies and neither does for bug.gentoo.org. They _do_ ask for
other sites.

I tried to attach to a comment and this failed - possibly because I have to
re-authenticate.

Please try and sort this asap as it puts me off reporting bugs and I would like
to help out.

Regards,
George.

I think I've found the cause of this for me - apache proxy can't cope with
multiple cookies.

I've just disabled my proxy to prove it and received cookies which leave me
logged in. Not a problem for gentoo so I'm off to apache even though they
claim to have fixed this bug...

FYI I've updated apache to 1.3.26, because of the security alerts, and see
that thay've been trying to fix this problem since 1.3.23 which is what I was
running.

It's not related to the documentation team.
